The next generation

Canon USA announced their next digital SLR camera in their Eos line. The Canon Eos 7D will hit the shelves later this month.

The 7D features an 18 megapixel sensor, 8-frames-a-second capability, HD video recording, Canon's latest color processor in a dual Digic 4 chip, improved autofocus and new spot metering capabilities. A built in dual axis electronic level helps straighten the camera for landscape photography and 100 % viewfinder coverage to aid in picture composition.

The 7D is being targeted as low end professional or the high spectrum for amateur photographers and carries a street price of $1,699. I hope to pick up one of the bad boys sometime early next year and look forward to exploring the video features of this camera.
